I installed a cat-back exhaust on my car and had to remove my catalytic converter. Will i pass emissions?

Posted in: cat back exhaust | | 9 Comments »>

I drive an 03 sentra ser spec-v and i installed a full cat back system. Since the catalytic convertor had to be taken out, i was unsure if i will pass emissions. Also my stock exhaust was removed by torching the bolts and breaking them since they were really rusted. i really did not want to weld that back on to pass the test. do i have any other options?? thanks.

Cut the pipe in half get two sleeves to connect the pipe back on, and don't clamp it down, set it up there and after the inspection take it off. cut it from where the cap was located before. Set it up there only for inspections.

I have a 1997 eclipse rs, i bought a cat back exhaust and headers, do i still have to get a cat converter?

It is a 1997 mitsubishi eclipse rs and i bougth DC headers and cat-back exhaust, do i still have to buy a catalytic converter or do those two performance parts make the catatalytic converter not be used or if i install the two am i going to be left with a stock catalytic converter?????????

Random technology high flow cat is what I use. With out a cat your car will not pass smog test and the rear heated O2 sensor will see to much oxygen and turn on the check engine light code P0420 for cat converter under efficiency. It is illegal to modify or remove emission controls.

Where can I find a cat back exhaust for my 2003 subaru impreza RS?

Posted in: cat back exhaust | | 4 Comments »>

I can only find cat back exhausts for the WRX not the RS, does anyone know if it would fit on the RS ?

Catback sections are the same for the WRX and RS. However the flanges most likely need to be rotated. Just cut the section off and have it rewelded with the right orientation to mount up, and you're good to go. It's a simple job for any exhaust shop.

Anyone know of a good cat back exhaust that doesnt sound ricey?

Posted in: cat back exhaust | | 3 Comments »>

I'm looking for a cat back exhaust for my car, nothing too loud and none of those ricey coffee can sounding things that people usually get. I just need something that has excellent low tones around the low rpm range and doesnt get throaty/raspy at the upper ranges. So far I'm thinking of a Greddy Evo2, but I'd like other opinions. Any ideas?

On a 4 cylinder car they all sound ricey, just some more than others, try Magnaflow, Apexi, Buddy Club,

Is my truck going to require a tune up if I put a performance cat-back exhaust system on it?

Posted in: cat back exhaust | | 2 Comments »>

I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota Sport. 4.7L V8. I wanna put a Dynomax ultra flo welded exhaust. Its a cat-back exhaust that I'm putting in addition to a Gen II FIPK from K&N. Any advice someone can give? Will I have to tune it again? And if so, are there any good portable tuners anyone can recommend?

As long as your truck is in good tune before you install any upgrades then you will be good. I put a complete header back system on my supercharged 3.8 as well as a cold air induction system and my GTP runs great.
